Berwyn Apartments

Edgewater, Chicago

The building façade of this six-story apartment building responds to the adjacent Lake Michigan by creating a systematic rhythm of projecting windows. This approach allows the building scale to break down while allowing views to be directed to the lake. The color pallet also responds to the surrounding context by bringing in warm colors that connect the adjacent transit stop with the traditional neighborhood context. The ground floor retail spaces look to entice the pedestrian traffic in the area.
